The unique shape of the house is inspired by classic Khmer architecture. Respecting proportions and consistent structure, creating a beautiful private micro cosmos.
The center of Athakon is of an octagonal shape and is the major meeting place of the house. It represents the mountain Meru. Similar to classic temples, the entrance of the house is pointed to the east, where the sun rises. The Athakon house respects the traditional Cambodian style of building, using natural materials like sandstone floors, large wooden pillars and terra cotta tiles.
The traditional architecture of the Athakon House lends it perfectly for gala dinners with performances of Apsara Dance, Bokator – Cambodian Martial Arts or a play with traditional instruments.
Several setups of seated set menus or walking buffets are possible thanks to the large area around the swimming pool. The central tower of the Athakon House makes a great location for cocktails accompanied by an amuse-bouche. The practical side and installation of kitchen and back-up for the bar are easily hidden in the large compound to guarantee a memorable experience.
